About the Geez Script (Fidel)

Geez (Ge'ez) is one of the oldest writing systems still in liturgical use, forming the basis for Amharic, Tigrinya, and other Ethiopian languages. The script is an abugida — each character represents a consonant+vowel syllable. There are 7 vowel orders (forms) for each consonant, giving over 200 unique characters.
